Immediate Implant Placement with Temporary Crown (2017)

A clinical case featuring tooth extraction, immediate implant placement, and same-day temporary restoration.
The final crown was planned after soft tissue maturation and implant stability.

Same-Day Workflow

Extraction → implant placement → temporary crown in one visit.

Aesthetic Planning

Temporary restoration supported soft tissue shaping and confidence.

Final Crown Timing

Final crown planned after ~4 months for stability and gingival beauty.

Case Overview

This case was performed in 2017 using an immediate implant protocol following extraction, with a same-day temporary crown.
Although immediate implant placement has been practiced for many years, earlier implant designs were less optimized, and
the temporary restoration often required detailed hand-built adjustment.

Initial Condition

  • The tooth had previous root canal treatment and a crown.
  • A root fracture was diagnosed, making extraction necessary.
  • The treatment decision was extraction with immediate implant placement on the same day.

Treatment Planning & Surgical Approach

Immediate implant placement requires careful surgical execution and precise restorative planning.
Compared with newer generations, earlier implant thread designs were less aggressive, which often made achieving primary stability more technique-sensitive.

Temporary Restoration (Same-Day)

A same-day temporary crown was provided to maintain aesthetics and support soft tissue contour.
The temporary restoration was gradually refined to ensure a natural shape and harmonious smile line.

Final Crown Strategy

The definitive crown was planned after approximately four months, allowing the gingiva to mature and the implant to integrate securely.
This timing supports long-term strength, healthy soft tissue, and refined aesthetics.

Beautiful implant work is not about speed — it’s about time, precision, and thoughtful refinement.
When the patient’s smile is beautiful, the restoration must be equally beautiful to match.
